Read: Jeremiah 31:7-14

Meditation: “What A Day That Will Be!”

The end of Christmastide replays the vision we saw on the first Sunday in Advent about six weeks ago: the vision of God’s great ingathering at the end of the age.

We need good eschatology.  With too much of it, we bcome fixated on the future and run the risk of becoming passive in the present.  With too little of it, we become discouraged by all the bad things going on.  The fact is, neither futurism nor fatalism provides us with what God wants us to have.

Instead, Jeremiah speaks a word into the scatteredness of our lives and says there will be an amazing ingathering.  Gos declates to us in a time of hopelessness that hope will be restored.  Today does not speak the final word.  The comng day speaks it…and says…”what a day it will be!”
