Meditation: Faithful and Tired
Isaiah knew that he had been called by God, even from his mother’s womb. It was a call to serve God in restoring the nation, and he had labored obediently in relation to it.
But he was tired. He had been taxed to the limits. Isaiah’s witness is a reminder to all of us that faithfulness and fatigue can go together. Fulfilling our calling can drain us–physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
There is no benefit or virtue in denying this. Instead, honest confession is good for our souls, and restorative action is the only way we can find renewal.
Today, let us commit ourselves to God, using Isaiah’s words as a reminder that when our obedience makes us weary, we can say so and do something about it.
