Lumen Fidei: Faith, Prayer & the Decalogue

Not surprisingly, Pope Francis rounds out his comments about the Church’s transmission of the faith by pointing to the Lord’s Prayer and the Ten Commandments.

The Lord’s Prayer is not only a prayer to pray, it is a way of looking at life the way Christ looks at it.  This means that prayer is the means of understanding how we are to live in relation to God.

Similarly, the Ten Commandments are only ten rules to obey, they are the infrastructural elements for building a moral life.

As Pope Francis puts it, these things represent “a complete entrustment to the God who saves.”  And that is the essence of faith.
